The MK8 Golf GTi/R intake is a complete redesign of the stock intake manifold right through to the turbo inlet. Taking inspiration from our RS3 intake, we have made the most of the available space to create an intake that is suitable for all power levels, from stock to high performance setups with hybrid or full frame turbos.

This intake system is designed to provide the highest possible flow rate whilst achieving the lowest intake temperatures. Every component has been engineered to provide a smooth and free flow path to the turbo. The restrictive stock 73mm diameter intake pipe is replaced with a larger diameter 94mm intake pipe. The filter itself has an external diameter of 192mm or 7.5? with a filter area of ​​over 110,000mm^2. The patented Venturi housing is designed to provide the largest possible internal volume for the available space in the Golf engine bay and ensures laminar flow to the turbo pipe.

Finally, the duct seals the filter opening on the windshield, but is not limited only by the stock intake. We have raised the front of the duct to now create an additional opening behind the hood, which corresponds to an additional 7? diameter hole for the intake to draw from.

The resulting system can significantly outflow the stock airbox whilst keeping intake temperatures to a minimum with the sealed design. Dyno Testing Our MK8 Golf intake has been independently tested by a reputable tuner in the UK, Regal Autosport. Testing was carried out on a MK8 Golf R in stock condition and with a tuning box. The tests were carried out on the same day, testing the stock airbox first and then the Eventuri. No other changes were made to the car. The first graph shows the results using a stock map.

As you can see, there is a measurable gain across the entire rev range of up to 12hp. This gain is noticeable even on a stock car on the road through better throttle response and quicker acceleration. The second graph shows the results when using a tuning box that increases the flow requirement of the intake system. The tuning box was used on both the stock airbox and the Eventuri intake with no changes made between tests. With a higher flow requirement, the stock airbox is more restrictive to the turbo, which is evident by the significant gain achieved with the Eventuri fitted. We now have a power increase of up to 20hp and 30Nm across the entire rev range, which is even more noticeable on the road. We expect the gains to be even greater with higher tuning levels. The improvements are due to a combination of reasons: 1) The closed system keeps IAT levels low - the Golf's engine bay can heat up very quickly, so an open cone filter will cause IAT levels to rise and therefore power to be lost. 2) The venturi housing provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake pipes, both of which are matched to an internal diameter of 94mm. This helps the turbo to run more efficiently. 3) The entire system is made from pure pre-impregnated carbon fiber, which is excellent at insulating against heat and has smooth internal surfaces, unlike fiberglass which has sharp resin lines.
