Where is the Supra's intake hidden?

Unfortunately, it is located where there is neither access to cool air nor to an optimal volume flow: directly behind the headlight and shielded by the bumper without any opening is the intake for the engine's air supply.

Why exactly there?

Due to current regulations, manufacturers are forced to introduce as much heat into the system as early as possible so that the effective range of the emission-reducing elements is reached as quickly as possible. The volume of the intake noise is also one of the reasons.

However, this is not optimal for your car's hardware and so we provide a solution to this problem.

Cold Air Intake

With this solution, we are not changing the basic concept of the airbox and there is a reason for that: it works! What we are changing, however, is the path to the airbox, because this has potential for optimization. We use the overpressure area in front of the radiator, which is created while driving and grows steadily with increasing speed. We have placed an opening in this overpressure area to not only take in cooler air, but also more of it! The overpressure forces air through the channel, directly into the airbox. If the volume is not sufficient, we have placed additional opening ribs so that there is never a bottleneck in the air volume, even if you significantly increase the performance of your vehicle.

measurement

B48 (2.0L) & B58 (3.0L) engines in the Toyota Supra have a lot in common: They are extremely sophisticated engines, efficient, optimized for low emissions, robust and yet both have high performance potential. To do something good for your engine, we have developed a plug&play intake kit, which we have put through its paces not only on the road but also on the race track under extreme conditions.

Both engines suck in air from the warm engine compartment from the factory. Thanks to a carefully designed, non-restrictive intake duct that moves the intake point to the front of the vehicle and allows the turbocharger to suck in air that is at ambient temperature, we have now achieved a significant reduction in the intake air temperature. This is particularly noticeable under high loads and at only average ambient temperatures, despite the powerful charge air cooling of the B48 and B58 engines. The best indication of this is that the ambient temperature during the test runs of our kit was on average 1-2 degrees higher than in the previous test in the standard state, and yet with our solution we were able to reduce the intake temperature AFTER the charge air cooler by up to a further 11 degrees (or 25%). Even after the maximum possible thermal load (extremely hot turbocharger, hot charge air system), the reduction remains clearly measurable at a further 5 degrees or 10%. Regardless of whether you drive on the racetrack or not, the thermal load on your turbocharger and engine is reduced and the headroom for potential tuning is increased (less knocking tendency)
